Overview
Empathia is a Canadian-built digital medical assistant that supports Accuro clinicians before, during, and after the visit. Trusted by 8,000+ physicians across 30+ specialties, Empathia syncs your Accuro schedule, prepares draft summaries with relevant history, referral letters, and lab results from the patient's chart, captures the encounter in person or by phone, and generates structured notes, consult letters, and patient handouts that clinicians review and send back to Accuro. The Accuro integration is included at no additional cost for Empathia subscribers.
How it works:
- Sync your Accuro schedule up to 14 days in advance. Each scheduled patient appears as a draft encounter in Empathia.
- Review the draft summary, including patient demographics, relevant medical history, and the most recent referral letters and lab results from the virtual chart.
- Start recording from the draft, in person or by phone using Empathia's telemedicine on the web, with patient consent.
- Empathia generates a SOAP note or consult letter using your template, plus patient handouts, referral letters, or sick notes as needed.

Ambient AI Scribe – Records in-person, virtual, or mobile encounters and generates structured clinical notes. Dictation is also available in Verbatim or AI-assisted mode.
One-Click “Send to EMR” – Save SOAP notes, consult letters, referral letters, and patient handouts to the patient chart in Accuro, individually or in batches.
Chart Prep & Pre-Visit – Draft summaries bring together relevant medical history and the most recent referral letters and lab results from the virtual chart, so clinicians can pre-chart ahead of busy clinic days.
Accuro Sync – Pulls your Accuro schedule up to 14 days ahead, loading patient name, age, date of birth, health card number, and relevant past medical records into each draft encounter.
Telemedicine Support – Call patients directly from a synced draft using your clinic caller ID, or record visits held on OTN, Zoom, Doxy, and other platforms.
Clinical Decision Support – Ask Emma Evidence any clinical question, on its own or within an encounter, and get answers grounded in recognized clinical guidelines. Adds AI differential diagnosis and a consult assessment checklist based on encounter content.
Templates & Smart Style – Import your existing Accuro templates and macros, customize by specialty, and let Smart Style adapt to your edits within about five encounters.
Billing & Coding Support – Billing code suggestions aligned with provincial guidelines to support accurate claims.
Referral Letters, Patient Handouts, Forms – Generates referral and consult letters, sick notes, after visit summaries, and patient handouts from the finalized encounter.
Team Collaboration & Team-Based Care – MOAs can send intake forms, prep charts, and autofill forms without an additional physician seat. Shared templates and macros keep documentation consistent across the care team.
